Phil Tracy joined Intersouth in 1997. His pharmaceutical background provides Intersouth with extensive experience in the healthcare industry. He has served on the board of directors of Intersouth portfolio companies and has served as interim CEO of an Intersouth portfolio company.
Prior to joining Intersouth, Phil was CEO of Burroughs Wellcome Co. and served on the board of Wellcome plc, BW’s UK parent, until the company’s merger with Glaxo (now Glaxo Smithkline) in 1995.
Phil has served on the boards of directors of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association and as Chairman of the Peace College board of directors and Chairman of the board of visitors of the Duke University Medical Center.
From 1989 to 1996 and again from 2001 to 2008 Phil served on the board of directors of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, an independent private foundation dedicated to advancing the biomedical sciences. He continues to serve as an Honorary Director.
He received a B.A. from the University of Nebraska and an L.L.B. from George Washington University.
